Thomas H. Skelton is a certified professional engineer in the States of Florida, Texas and North Carolina. Mr. Skelton has over three decades of experience in the land development field and knows every aspect it takes to turn a client’s concept into a physical reality. In addition to his years of knowledge, Mr. Skelton also has the drive and commitment it takes to help every one of his clients move their projects forward in a timely and cost-efficient manner while treating them with a level of professional integrity in the process. This strong work ethic has generated entire networks of repeat clientele who trust and ensure that Mr. Skelton will get the job done.
Born in Syracuse, New York, Mr. Skelton has been a resident of the Central Florida area since 1969.
Receiving his formal education in the Central Florida area, Mr. Skelton graduated in December 1988 from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and an Associate of Science degree in Drafting and Design.

Mr. Skelton’s career in land development began in 1981 as a draftsman for a surveying company. Shortly after, he switched to an engineering firm that dealt mainly with private developers. He assisted in designing and drafting projects that varied from subdivisions to shopping centers, both large and small. After gaining knowledge of the ins and outs of a small-level company, Mr. Skelton shifted his focus. He began working for a large development corporation in 1985, where he worked under a professional engineer and obtained essential experience and direct contact with developers. While working with this company, Tom’s primary responsibilities were preparing engineering plans and specifications, permitting, and site inspections during construction. Projects included the design of 2000+ acre subdivisions, various townhouse projects, and high-rise condominium sites.

In January 1989, Mr. Skelton was employed by an Orlando-based firm as Project Engineer/Manager. These projects included a 300 + lot, 92 lot, and 14 lot subdivisions, community development roadway projects, ballpark facilities, water system studies, stormwater management reports, and regulatory agency coordination through Orange and Seminole counties.

Becoming a registered engineer in the State of Florida in February 1990, Mr. Skelton soon after joined a newly emerging engineering firm called American Civil Engineering Company, where his positions currently are Vice President of the company and Project Manager. Various projects that Tom has managed include a 120-lot subdivision, numerous drainage studies, recreation facilities, and office buildings. The duties of budgeting, time scheduling, and close client contact with “to date” information are included in the management.
Mr. Skelton has been responsible for developing site plans, subdivision construction plans, master drainage, and stormwater management plans (including the use of AdICPR computer programs and other forms of drainage calculations), recreation facilities, and utility designs. This includes various permitting for many regulatory agencies, such as the Department of Environmental Regulation, the St. Johns’s Water Management District, South Florida Water Management District, and the Department of Transportation.
